This Optical Limit Switch / Endstop tells your 3D printer when it has reached the end of a rail using an optical sensor instead of a mechanical switch.
When something is located between the two uprights of this sensor it is detected and tells the 3D printer to stop moving along the rail. Compared to mechanical limit switches, optical switches do not require physical contact to detect the end of the rail.
