When measuring, the force should be applied to the outer side of the strain E-shaped portion of the sensor and the outside edges to form a shearing force in the opposite direction (i.e., the middle of the metal beam should bend with the center affixed to the strain gauge. Make sure that there is a shearing force across the center and edges when weight is applied for a proper reading.)
