Use this NodeMCU ESP8266EX IoT Board to easily add a mini wifi enabled microcontroller to your projects! If you've used the ESP8266 serial module before, you'll find this is a piece of cake to use and adds a lot more GPIO pins to turn it into a full microcontroller! This NodeMCU development board contains a full ESP8266 WiFi module with all the GPIO broken out, a full USB-serial interface, and a power supply all on the one breadboard-friendly package. The NodeMCU is an open-source project and you can find all the design files and so on on their github page.

It offers a complete and self-contained Wi-Fi networking solution, allowing it to either host the application or to offload all Wi-Fi networking functions from another application processor. It has powerful on-board processing and storage capabilities that allow it to be integrated with the sensors and other application specific devices through its GPIOs with minimal development up-front and minimal loading during runtime. Its high degree of on-chip integration allows for minimal external circuitry.
